Thanks Lance for your feedback! You are indeed right that Sati was not 'born' in The Matrix - although in a sense one can presume that human beings are not 'born' in the matrix either, although they are quickly harvested and plugged into it. I still think that the point about her ability to change the matrix makes the rest of my observation about Sati retain its validity. Hopefully I will find the time soon to watch Revolutions a few more times!

Hopefully Matrix fans have cracked the 128-bit encryption and are seeing some of the details in the Zion Archive. The park bench on which the Oracle sits at the end of the film is dedicated in memory of Thomas Anderson! Her cigarettes are 'Double Destiny' brand! There is so much attention to detail in these films that it is hard to believe that any religious or philosophical overtone is accidental!

Well, that's all for today...

Smith as Neo's Negative
December 19, 2003 00:00

So in what sense is Smith Neo - that is, Neo's negative? It seems that the imbalance in the system created by the One inevitably produces a Smith as well. When Neo went to see the Architect, he was given a choice, one that encouraged him to return to the Source so that there could be a temporary dissemination of the code he carries and a re-introduction of the prime program. Isn't that what actually happens at the end of Revolutions? Neo is connected to the Source, and this allows a temporary dissemination of the code he carries. I wonder whether, had Neo gone through the door to the Source, whether his first stop would have been to confront Agent Smith! Was it, as Smith suggests, inevitable, with Neo's choice of the other door simply delaying things, and giving him some leverage with the machines as he then later freely offered to play the role for which he was always destined?
